Evidence and Updating Policy

This policy explains how Crook Medical Publishing approaches evidence, official sources, references and updates in its medical and professional education.

Evidence and source selection

For medical publications, we prioritise relevant clinical guidelines, regulatory information, peer-reviewed research and other credible medical sources. For South African practice-compliance publications, we prioritise current legislation, regulations, government publications and regulator guidance. The authority, date, relevance and limits of each source are considered.

Evidence versus experience

Published evidence, legal or regulatory requirements and author experience are not presented as interchangeable. Practical observations may help explain real-world care or practice management, but they are identified as experience and do not override current law, established evidence or appropriately qualified professional judgement.

Review dates and editions

Books state their edition and publication information. Website pages display a review date where appropriate.

When updates are considered

Material changes in safety information, regulatory status, legislation, clinical guidance or high-quality evidence may prompt a correction, website notice or revised edition. An update is not made solely because a new source appears; its authority, quality, relevance and effect on the existing explanation are assessed first.

Reporting new evidence or errors

Readers and clinicians may send relevant evidence, official updates, corrections or questions to course@dekuilenmedical.co.za. Please include enough detail to identify the publication and passage concerned.
